Arun went to his very first union meeting last night! Big Boy! Usually I take Nahanni, but she’s now entering the rambunctious phase that he is possibly coming slowly out of. Anyway, last night we were driving back in the car and the radio was on. The Rentals song “Friends of P” came on.
Arun listened to it for a little bit and then said,
Hey, I like this song.
Then, today, on a drive in the car with Leah, the DJ was having some sort of nostalgia freakout for eighties shoegazer rock and was playing the Cocteau Twins.
Arun listens, then says,
It sounds like Khmer. You know, when you’re on the street? And there’s a loudspeaker?
This will be very funny to the ten people who both know who the Cocteau Twins were and what Khmer music sounds like over blown out Cambodian loudspeakers. 6 of those 10 read this blog. Love y’all.

That boy has great taste! “Friends of P” has been one of my fav songs for years! So catchy…. and yes I can certainly hear the Khmer connection in Cocteau Twins… Very cute.
